My Perspective:

The kinesthetic power and visceral feelings dance can bring out of an audience never ceases to amaze me. Current social themes and topics drive my choreography; I use choreography as a lab to better understand these ideas and theories myself. Having been raised in a ballet-focused environment, I am naturally drawn to structure and grand performance. I combine the elements of classical technique, abstract forms, and humanistic movement to portray my concept. I strive to push the boundaries of my own comfort zone, but more importantly I urge myself to challenge the comfort level of my audience.

Ultimately, each piece I create is dedicated to you. My end goal is to provoke thought, feeling, and discussion from my audience, and urge them to open their minds to the concept. I am a strong believer that in order to begin to grasp a new idea you must be willing to approach it with an open mind and view it from different perspectives.

I believe my job, as the choreographer, is to tell a story; convey a message. In my mind the dance already exists, through the rehearsal process I work to uncover the movement and present it to you in the most effective way possible. I do not wait for inspiration to start creating; I create and let the inspiration come naturally. The choreography happens when the laws of logic and artistry collide.
