About Me

Mackenzie Matyn is currently working to complete her BBA with majors in Management Information Systems and Dance at Grand Valley State University. She trained extensively at Ann Parsley School of Dance where she completed Cecchetti Ballet Examinations through grade V, and was awarded a student scholarship. Mackenzie also studied ballet, modern and choreography at her high school, Arts Academy in the Woods, where she was the captain of the Dance Company and valedictorian of her class. Mackenzie is a former member of the Macomb Ballet Company and has performed in numerous pre professional ballets including The Nutcracker and Snow White. Mackenzie has presented her choreographic work, Human Nature, at the Summer 2016 NewDANCEFest Choreography Showcase hosted by the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble. During her time in the GVSU Dance Program, Mackenzie has performed in guest artist, faculty, and student works. She is also the former President of the student dance organization, MOMENTUM. She had the pleasure of choreographing the senior group piece, empowHER, for the Fall 2016 Senior Concert; Of Lipstick and Pearls. Mackenzie plans to return to Grand Valley in the Fall of 2018 to complete her MIS major requirements and will continue to look for performance, choreography and teaching opportunities in the Grand Rapids and Detroit areas.
